Icy Purple Head Super Slide Tips: When to Hold and When to Let Go
Published · 2 min read
Icy Purple Head: Super Slide has one input: holding the button or not. Holding freezes the purple head into an ice cube that slides wherever the ground tilts. Releasing turns him back into a sticky head that stops on the spot. That sounds too simple to be hard, but after the first few levels you will be restarting a lot. Here is how to think about the button so you restart less.
The release is your brake
Most new players treat the button as a go button, and it is, but the more important moment is letting go. An ice cube cannot slow down, steer or climb. It only slides downhill and gathers speed. The sticky head, on the other hand, grips whatever surface it is touching, even a steep beam. So the plan for every slope is: hold to start, and let go early. You can always hold again. You cannot pull a cube back from a pit.
Use short holds to creep
You do not have to commit to a whole slide. Hold for half a second and let go, and Icy moves a short step and sticks. Repeat, and you can edge him right up to a drop, a spike row or a fan before choosing the moment to go. On level 1 you can slide the whole beam in one go, but later levels reward small, deliberate steps.
Read the slope before you touch anything
At the start of each level, wait a second and look at the whole screen. Where is the cardboard Express Delivery box? Which way does each beam lean? Where are the fans pointing? Then plan backwards from the box: which surface does Icy need to land on just before it, and which slope gets him there? Because ice goes only where the ground tilts, the route is usually visible once you look for it.
Freeze for fans and boosters
Fans, orange speed panels and bounce pads are there to move Icy, and only a sliding cube can be moved: the sticky head grips the surface under it. So be frozen when you reach a fan and let the air carry you, and stay frozen over a booster to keep the speed. If you need to stop right after a boost, plan where you will let go before you reach the booster, not after.
Respect the spikes
Rows of ice spikes and spinning spike wheels end the attempt on contact. The safe habit is to stick just before a spiky section, look at the gap, and slide across in one committed hold. Hesitating halfway, and letting go over the spikes, is the classic way to lose.
Restart early
The circular arrow in the top right starts the level again. Restarting is cheap, so use it: if a slide goes wrong, restart at once instead of watching Icy tumble off the screen. Purple checkpoint flags stand along the longer levels.
Pause shows the whole run
The pause button opens the level grid, with resume, restart, home and sound. The game keeps your progress in the browser, so come back on the same device and you continue where you stopped.
